They’re Not Horses, They’re Unicorns

As of 5pm tomorrow I will have finished my third year of University. It was to be my final year, but sadly I’m not a very a good student and as such I will be returning for at least one more semester, possibly two as I failed a computer science exam last week.

Still, it’s not the end of the world, sure it sucks but it is definitely disappointing. My life is not going quite as I expected it to, but then I suppose that’s the nature of life right? Shit happens. A lot of opportunities I thought I would have by now simply aren’t happening, and a lot of people I thought would be in my life are all starting to leave for greener pastures. Still, life goes on, things and people change and I must change with them.

What’s really interesting me lately is that no matter how much people talk about change, it seems that very few people actually have the ability to effect it. Yet recently that concept was turned on its head as the voice of the majority spoke and the citizens of America effected change, that tells me that maybe the world isn’t doomed because of humanities apathy. However I recently watched Zeitgeist Addendum, and yes, before you start, I know I know, grain of salt and what not, but hey, you know what, that movie speaks a lot of truth, the system is definitely flawed and it isn’t the first time I’ve been told about it; I’m also a big fan of Endgame by Derrick Jenson.

Now, Jenson is more of a fan of violent action, or maybe that’s just the way I interpreted it, but it seems to me that he is down with attacking civilisation quickly and effectively, while the Zeitgeist films seem aimed more at effecting change through choice, Addendum specifically lists goals for changing the world from the dysfunctional monetary system to a new technology based system. I’d like to think that these two ideas don’t have to be mutually exclusive, after all, why can’t we start by boycotting the monetary system, and then if that turns sour, as it no doubt would should people finally grow the balls necessary to take a stand, then we can start tearing down mobile phone towers and blowing up service stations. Sounds like a plan to me.

I’d like to be clear that I’m not down with killing people (that’s a story for another time entirely) but I am definitely cool with the destruction of private property, especially when that property is used to continue the mass enslavement of the worlds population. You might like to call me a terrorist because of my ideas about blowing things up, but honestly, who would that be terrorising except the people who rely on these things in order to remain rich?

On the other hand, I’m inherently lazy and self-centred, so I doubt I will ever actually do anything about the state of the world, I just like talking about it. More likely I will endevour to participate in the great pyramid scheme of the world, I want to be rich, thats my plan for escape, fuck saving the world, I just wanna live easy until the world implodes.

But maybe I’m just immature and eventually I’ll grow out of it, finally coming to my senses and doing something for humanity instead of myself.

In the meantime, I’ll continue to drink too much, not study and fuck around with life in general.
